Description: Raja Rajeswari, also known as Tripura Sundari or Lalita, is a form of Kamakshi. She holds the pasa, ankusha, a bow of sugarcane (ikshu khanda) and a five floral arrows (panchbana). She is the epitome of beauty, adorned with ornaments and garlands and is seated on a throne atop a supine Sadashiva. Tripura Sundari embodies the power, qualities and attributes of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva and is perceived as pure consciousness. This is pictorially expressed here by the supreme gods in the lower part of the painting, who are smaller in size and secondary to the main figure of Rajeswari.
This elegant compostion is in the traditional Tanjore style and the muted colors and treatment give it an antique finish.
